The manuscript will of John Arnold, Bourbon County, Kentucky, 4pp., August 23, 1847. In part, “I will to my daughter Minerva Dooley a negro girl named Martha, twelve years of age. ... I will to my daughter Margaret and her children the choice of my three negro girls, Lucinda, Fanny & Henrietta with all the increase... I will to my daughter Mary Arnold & her children the choice of the remaining two girls & all increase ... The remaining third girl I will to my wife ... I will to my son John...one hundred acres & my boy Harry ... It is my will that Tom & Harry have the liberty of choosing the men to whom they will be sold & also that Davy and his wife Lucy have the same liberty & if they should be of such reduced value as that no one whom they may choose will buy them, I will that two hundred dollars be given as a reward to the master they may choose to take them. ....”
