Engraving, 7-1/2” x 4-3/4,” “The Last Daughter,” withdrawn from a book, c1850’s. This engraved image carries a great detail of a small slave auction. The auction has a 4-5 year old girl on the block with a half dozen bidders looking. In the foreground, a slave master raises his whip to a slave woman who is holding what must be her last daughter. On the right, there are two slaves yoked together at the neck and handcuffed together at the wrist. Minor spotting.
