A good war-date Confederate slave auction receipt, 1p. oblong 4to., Floyd County, Ga., Nov. 27, 1862 issued to former Confederate Surgeon Edward A. O. Ware for the sale of several slaves during the liquidation of his father's estate, in part: "…in accordance with the last will of Edward Ware (deceased) we exposed his remaining slaves to sale…to the highest bidder and Edward A. O. Ware became the highest bidder for negro woman Maria at one hundred and thirty five dollars. Negro man Willis at fourteen hundred and seventy five dollars & negro man Dave at thirteen hundred dollars…this is a receipt…for said negroes…". VG
