A complete and authentic issue of the Frank Leslie’s Illustrated, April 30, 1870, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, an important, full page, horizontal engraving, “New York City - Demonstration of the Colored Inhabitants of New York in Honor of the Adoption of the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, April 8th 1870.” There is a related report, in part, “About 15,000 colored people viewed the parade, and over 7,000 colored men were in line. ... A wagon, festooned with mflags and banners, was also in line, containing twenty-nine young colored girls, dressed in blue and white, who represented the states which had ratified the fifteenth amendment. ..”
