Pair of land grant documents from Arkansas: Presidential land grant certificate with secretarial signature of PRESIDENT JAMES BUCHANAN, dated Washington, DC, July 1, 1859 for 80 acres in Batesville, Arkansas issued to Lot Davis. Also Land grant certificate with secretarial signature of PRESIDENT GROVER CLEVELAND,dated Washington, DC, April 28, 1896 for 80 acres issued to Solomon Davis. SOLOMON DAVIS(1829-1890) of Randolph County, Arkansas, was the son of Lot Davis (1795-1871). Solomon Davis enlisted in Co. C, 38th Arkansas Infantry, at Camp Adams, Arkansas, July 19, 1862; he was left in a hospital at Little Rock on May 18, 1863, when the regiment moved to Louisiana. This company was recruited in Fulton and Randolph counties.
