SPECIAL ORDERS, No. 27, signed in print "Maj. Gen. J. Bankhead Magruder," one page, 4 ¾" x 8", Houston, Texas, January 27, 1864, reading, "General Orders, No. 16, Head Quarters, District of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, is hereby so far amended as to permit all enlisted men in the State Troops, liable to conscription, or who may volunteer for the war, to join any of the companies they choose of the following organizations: 1st, Waul's Legion. 2d. Second Texes (sic). 3d. Green's Division." Two chips along top edge, pencil notations in upper field, very good.
