A touching home front war-date Gettysburg related letter, 3pp. 8vo., written by Henry Wiley's sister, S. W. Brown, Springwater, [N/ Y.], July 5, 1863, showing great concern for her wounded brother, in part: "With a trembling hand I sit down to write you a few lines. O my dear brother, how ardently I pray that these lines may find you comfortable…surrounded by those who are ready to minister to your necessities…we are in terrible suspense in regard to your condition, hoping and praying that Pa will find you fast recovering. O how gladly would I go to you…were it in my power. We have seen accounts of Wednesday's horrible carnage and of the bravery of the first Corps, but the reports of the casualties are very imperfect and we wait with the greatest anxiety…Pa is expecting to leave in a short time…may he be protected…Pa will tell you all the news…Eliza received the Tribune last night in which you were reported wounded and S. R. came down to day to learn the particulars. Poor Libbie is…just as anxious and sorrowful as she can be…Henry you can see plainly that I am incapable of writing…may you find this source of comfort and support…it is time for Pa to go. Goodbye, may God bless you and may you soon recover and come to us…". VG
