A good war-date Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. William Reese [DOD, Aug. 25, 62], Co. B, 103rd Penn. Vols., "[Washington, DC], March 13, 1862", in part: "…we have got our guns…we had to go to the city for them. We had a warm and dusty march…there is a awful lot of men left here…there was forty thousand men crossed the Potomac…the rebels have been whipped badly. They have left Bulls Run and Manassas Junction. Our men are twenty miles the other side of Bulls Run. Thomas Davis' regiment [62nd Penn. Vols.] has gone on toward the rebels. Our men has taken a great many places…". VG
