A good war-date Union officer's letter, 4pp., 8vo, with postal cover, written by staff officer for chief of artillery 11th Corps Lt. William H. Mickle, 134th New York Vols. (future captain of Co. B), "Office A.A.Q.M. Arty 11th A.C. Bridgeport, Ala, March 7th, 1864," in part: "…dear good Major Osborn met with a sad accident yesterday on the Rail Road at Stevenson Ala. He was on top of a car when it ran off the track & to save himself he jumped he jumped as far aside as possible but in the attempt or when he alighted he broke his leg off above the ankle so that it bent in an angle of 45 degrees. However he is very cheerful & makes it as easy as possible…Yesterday I spent the day at Genl Howard's H'd Qrs and at the 134 heard Fletcher preach a good sermon…" VG
