A good war-date Union officer's letter, 4pp., 4to, with postal cover, written by staff officer for chief of artillery 11th Corps Lt. William H. Mickle, 134th New York Vols. (future captain of Co. B), "Office A.A.Q.M. Artillery 11th A.C. Bridgeport Ala., March 18th, 1864," in part: "…Yesterday & today I have been receiving & issuing Mules & Horses for our Artillery. Tomorrow our Battery will move to Lookout under the stern gaze of that memorable mountain; but I shall not be ready to go before a week or two: It will be much pleasanter to be near Corps Hd Qrs, both respecting business & Sabbath. General Howard was preaching every Sunday if convenient…When Arthur begins to wear pants then I want you to get him a nice suit of Zouave clothes, Soldier's cap & blue coat…" VG.
