A good war-date Union officer's letter, 6pp., 8vo, with postal cover, written by staff officer for chief of artillery 11th Corps Lt. William H. Mickle, 134th New York Vols. (future captain of Co. B), "Office A.A.Q.M. Arty. 11th A. C., Bridgeport, Ala. Mar. 20th 1864," in part: "…if I return and the fortunes of war be such that a draft must take place, they cannot take me as I will have been in the service for (2) two years…My hours are so intensely occupied with the Q.M. Dept. fitting out teams from green mules…About the last of this week I hope remove for Lookout Valley with my train of wagons and supplies…The major is slowly improving & hopes to be able to join us again within the space of (2) two months…" VG.
