Quarto. Stitched printed self-wrappers. 18pp., New York: (John F. Trow, Book and Job Printer) 1864. Stitching present, but detached, all leaves present, age and center fold with edge split, edge wear, about good. A list of 360 works of art offered for sale to benefit the U.S. Sanitary Commission, an official agency created by legislation signed by Lincoln to coordinate the efforts of women who wanted to contribute to the war effort. The Sanitary Commission helped immeasurably to alleviate the sufferings of wounded and ill soldiers, and financed much of their activities through such charitable fairs. In this case, one would have been doing oneself a good turn as well, if one purchased one or more of the paintings donated for sale by Winslow Homer, Albert Bierstadt, Asher Durand, William Sidney Mount, Eastman Johnson, and similarly accomplished artists. A rarely offered piece
