A complete and authentic issue, Harper’s Weekly, November 12, 1864, filled with war news and engravings,16pp., disbound, VG. From the front cover, “General Custer presenting Captured Battle Flags at the War Department, Washington,” with accompanying report. In part, “General Custer has been appointed Major General. ... One of the colors captured was the headquarters flag of the late rebel General Ramseur ... Ramseur was a classmate of Custer at west Point, and as the former was dying, the two reviewed together the reminiscence of their cadet life.” And a dramatic Nast vertical engraving “Election Day.”
