A good war-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Lemuel M. Taber [WIA Fredericksburg, Va., Dec. 13, 1862], Co. C, 94th New York Vols., "Camp Parole, Annapolis, Md., May 2, 1864, addressed to former 94th New York comrade Lyman James Plummer (1843-1923) of Ellisburgh, Jefferson County, New York, in part: "…I got back to the company about two weeks ago and was a glad boy to get back…I can't do any duty. I was on guard one night and have been under the doctor's care ever since. I am well in health but my right leg is no good to me much. I can walk around some but am verry lame and don't know as my leg will be of much good to me any more. The reason why I was sent back to the Regt was because I would not go into the Invalid Corps…". Also included is the letter's original stamped transmittal cover. Fine.
