From Brady's Album Gallery, 1862, the first, No. 369, "Headquarters of General Lafayette Before the Battle of Yorktown," 4" x 2 ½" with mount, shows Union soldiers and contraband servants occupying a modest 18th century home, damp stain in the lower right margin…plus; No. 478, "Old Frame House on Fair Oaks Battle Field," 4" x 3" with mount, describes the place as being "Pierced by hundreds of bullets, and used as a Hospital by Hooker's Division," soldiers and contraband servants again inhabit the scene, two corners slightly bumped.
