A good war-date CDV depicting Confederate general Roger A. Pryor (1828-1919) as a civilian in 1861, issued by D. Appleton, NYC. He entered Confederate service as colonel of the 3rd Virginia. Appointed a brigadier general in 1862 he commanded a division under Longstreet at Antietam. In 1864 he was imprisoned in New York City under the suspicion of being a spy while after the war he became a law partner of "Beast" Ben Butler. VG
