Lot of 3 albumen photographs of U.S. Navy ships, each 5 1/8" x 8 1/2". Albumen by James J. Wait of Chicago, Illinois with verso inscription "US Ship St Marys and Croton Monument New London Conn 1884". This sloop-of-war participated in the 1847 capture of Vera Cruz, Mexico...plus; Albumen with "USS 'St. Marys' Wash day" on verso, ca. late 1880's. An exceptionally fine image showing the St. Mary's strung with her crew's laundry while in harbor by the Statue of Liberty...plus; Albumen with verso inscription "Crew of US Ship Jamestown aloft unfurling sails New London Conn 1884". This sloop-of-war was built in 1844 and saw considerable action during the Civil War. All images are lightly aged, yet clear. Fine condition
