This volume is ripe with important issues to include; The John Brown Harper’s Ferry Invasion is intensley covered starting with the November 5th issue. The Mountain Meadows Massacre and an interview with Brigham Young is covered. The first American printing of Charles Dickens' "A TALE OF TWO CITIES", serialized in issues May 7-December 3. From the May 7th issue, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens ...Book I, Chapter 1, Printed from early proof-sheets. for which Messrs. Harper & Brothers pay the author Five Thousand Dollars". All the Winslow Homer engravings are present including “A Cadet Hop at West Point.” Baseball is shown, a horizontal centerspread image in the October 15th issue, ”A Base-ball Match at the Elysian Fields, Hoboken.”
