A superb oval photograph, circa 1877, mounted to a 6 ¾" x 9 ¼"sheet with imprints naming the sitter as well as photographer, Adam-Salomon of Paris, and identifying the image as being a product of the "Woodbury Process." Walter Woodbury's printing method reproduced a photograph's mid-tones to such an exact degree that it was widely used for expensive tipped-in book illustrations during the late 19th century. Fine condition.
