Photograph of the "Ship Abner Coburn", 1978 tons, .. built by William Rogers, Bath, Maine, launched Oct. 14, 1882." This image measures 13 x 9 1/2" and was taken by J. C. Higgins of Bath. It shows the ship tied up at dock. There is some foxing though mostly in the background sky otherwise a good clear image. Original framed, VG. The three-masted Down Easter Abner Coburn was named after the Governor of Maine from 1863 to 1864. She sailed mainly on the trade routes between the U.S. East Coast and the Orient but also sailed between New York and San Francisco.
