This word puzzle was distributed by the New York World to publicize political corruption during the early days of the 1888 presidential campaign. James Blaine, frontrunner for the Republican nomination, was contending with eventual nominee Benjamin Harrison. Exposing Harrison's paid electors, known as "Blocks of Five," led to the adoption of secret ballot laws. 4" x 4" wooden frame with sliding lid. Good condition.
