Jo Davidson (1883-1952) was a popular American sculptor whose work is on prominent display at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. His style embodies the idea that outward appearances reflect the spirit of the subject, and therefore is free of overt mannerisms. The bronze finish retains an "impressionistic" quality of the clay, retaining a realistic, "life-like" quality. This striking bust of FDR was produced during the president's first term. The piece measures 9" tall with the base. Davidson's name, and the date "1934 Washington, D.C." imprint on the back. The piece is in beautiful condition with only a few fly speck nicks. A striking bust of one our most popular President's.
