ELLSWORTH, Oliver (1745-1807) served as a Delegate to both the Continental and Constitutional Conventions. He later became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Manuscript Document Signed, “Oliv. Ellsworth” 1p. oblong octavo, May 9, 1777, Hartford, being a pay order to William Whitting “to improve as one of the Managers of the Cannon Foundary at Salisbury & render his account & charge the State.” VG.
