Miniature gouache on ivory, 2-1/8”x2-1/16”, of a French soldier, probably painted about 1760 in the south of France. He is wearing a dark blue coat, gold epaulets, a red vest with a most complicated jabot. Fine quality and color. In original oval brass frame.
