June 1, 1780, Connecticut Treasury-Office, Complete Unissued Sheet of Four Uncut Soldiers Certificates, Anderson CT-18, Choice Uncirculated. Sheet measures 15.5" x 11.5," unissued and essentially "as made," although with some handling folds and moderate age toning. These interest bearing notes were given to soldiers who served on the Connecticut Line during the Revolutionary War, in acknowledgement of the amounts due them for their service. These certificates allowed Connecticut to defer their obligations to the soldiers, giving the state time to raise the necessary funds. Unfortunately, just as with any other paper issued during this period, the notes depreciated rapidly, leaving the soldiers with little to show for their efforts. "Not worth a Continental" applies to more than just the paper money, but to all of the paper issued during the Revolutionary War! Very Rare. (4 note sheet).
