HUNTINGTON, Jedediah (1743-1818)An active Son of Liberty from Norwich, Ct., a member of the Committee on Correspondence and as a captain, raised a regiment and joined the army at Cambridge in 1775. He later served at Danbury, Philadelphia, and on the Hudson River. He would later serve on the court martial of General Charles Lee and John Andre. Appointed by Pres. Washington as Collector of Customs in 1789. Partly-printed Document Signed, “Jed Huntington” as Treasure, 1p. oblong octavo, February 1, 1789, Connecticut, being a pay voucher for William Ellery. Fine....plus; Pay voucher Signed, “J. Lawrence” 1p. oblong octavo, February 1, 1781, Connecticut, issued to Amos Grosvenor who is to be paid “at or before the End of one Year after the expiration of the present War, or a Cessation of Hostilities, between Great Britain and these United States...” Toned, else VG.
