June 1783, "THE UNIVERSAL MAGAZINE," London, England, Choice Extremely Fine. Complete, original British news magazine, 8.4" x 5.25," (pp. 334-438, plus a supplement and an index to Vol. 72), disbound and lacking cover page, but very sharp, crisp pages and printing. "The Universal Magazine" was usually issued without a title page. Minor toning and foxing throughout. Featuring a 2-page letter signed in type by Gen. George Washington, dated April 18, 1783, announcing the cessation of hostilities between the U.S. and Britain--in the aftermath of the 1783 Paris peace agreement between them! Also includes beautiful engravings and a great variety of information from the historical period.
