Aaron Burr (1756-1836) and Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), despite their contributions to the young American Republic, are best remembered for their infamous July 11, 1804 duel in which Hamilton was mortally wounded. At various times during their careers both antagonists practiced law in New York City. Group of 15 legal documents pertaining to either Burr or Hamilton, approximately 20 pages, octavo and quarto, 1785-1799, New York. Three of the documents are secretarially signed "Burr Att" with the remaining 12 items being either docketed with "Hamilton Att" or showing Hamilton as an attorney for the case. Light stains and aging, else Fine condition overall...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed "Hanson Briscoe", one page, octavo, November 20, 1790 to Alexander Hamilton, Piscataway, New Jersey. A panel on the verso is docketed "10th Decem, 1790 Mr. Hanson Briscoe about his debt" in Hamilton's hand. Minor splits with some stains. VG condition.
