Document Signed by King George III, one page, small octavo, January 17, 1801, England. King George, who had been afflicted with both physical and mental illness since the 1780’s, here writes in part: “I am sensible of the Marquee’s of Salisbury Situation....of Mr. Devaines one of my Apothecaries. I as well as every one of my Prescribers have employed constantly Mr. Brandi’s Shop,. I believe therefore that Mr. Brandi Junior who is an Englishman may be appointed to succeed Mr. Devaines. The other Apothecary is now an BW Man...the attention shown me by Mr. Bakiscombe of Windsor during my illness...make him highly deserving of it when it shall become vacant”. This note is signed with a bold “George R” and is VF...plus; Engraved portrait of George III, 4 1/2” x 6”, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Printer, ca. 1800, England. George is shown standing in full regalia, VG.
