Complete issue of Frank Leslie’s Illustrated, July 9, 1864, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the front cover, a strong engraving of Colored Troops with caption “The Colored Infantry Brining in the Captured Guns, Amid the Cheers of the Ohio Troops ...” And a second image, a 1/2 page engraving “The War in Virginia - the 22nd Colored Regiment, Duncan’s Brigade, Carrying the First Line of Rebel Works Before Petersburg - From a Sketch by our special Artist, Edwin Forbes.” Then, a one colume report noting the congratulation “To the Colored Troops ... they have stormed the works of the enemy and carried them, taking guns and prisoners, and in the whole affair they have displayed all the qualities of good soldiers ...”
