1793 Court Appraisal of Five Negros as Personal Property, Fine. 13" x 8," light toning, a small marginal fold tear, otherwise bright and fresh for its age. An extensive, double-sided list of the personal property in the estate of Josephus Leven(?), including the names and values of five Negros (a man named Cit, Sally and her child, and Nicy and her child). Because of the English influence even after the Revolutionary War, values are listed in British Pounds, Shillings, and Pence. Sally and her child were valued at ten times Josephus' three heifers and one steer...Nicy and her child were worth ten times as much as a black mare and colt!
