A deep wooden frame secures a reverse glass painting of an American eagle set against a gilt ground. "54 MASS. VOL. INF." is burned onto the face of the frame, which also carries two manuscript paper labels reading "Fort Wagner Survivor" and "Charles H. Goff." Included is a copy of Goff's Graves Registration Card, which indicates he served in Co. "H" from May 13, 1863 until August 20, 1865. The July 18, 1863 assault on Battery Wagner was immortalized in the film "Glory." Excellent condition.
