War-date Union artillery commander's report, 2pp. 4to., written by Chief of Artillery Capt. George A. Williams, Corinth, Mississippi, Sept. 5, 1862, to the Assistant Adjutant General, Corinth, Mississippi. Captain Williams provides a report of the type and number of artillery pieces for each of the batteries A through F, and further gives a critique of the fortifications inhabited by each battery. The batteries inventory included howitzers, cannon, long-range rifled guns, and Parrott guns. Captain Williams also details instructions he gave to each battery commander to improve fields of fire. A fine, legible letter, with the usual fold creases
