Autograph Letter Signed, "Sam McBride Supt. of Mechs." 1p. quarto, Indianola, Texas, November 16, 1865, addressed to Captain L.A. Poor, Assistant Quartermaster, and reads: "...My foreman of Blksmith complains to me of things being frequently stolen from his shop states that he frequently finds his shop open when he comes to it in the morning. As there is a guard placed immediately over this place, I cannot realize how those can be done without knowledge of the sentry. He also states to me that his coal is taken away during the night. As I hold my Foreman strictly responsible for material and tools issued to him for the use of government, I hope you will render him any further protection that you can. I feel confident that this complaint is just, from the fact that we have already detected a shot gun, that was stolen from this shop during the week..." Fine.
