Manuscript copy of a letter by Abraham Lincoln's Private Secretary John G. Nicolay, one page, quarto, Executive Mansion, Washington, D.C., April 14, 1864, to W. Richards, Baltimore, Maryland, reading, "In answer to your letter of the 12th instant, asking what disposition has been made of a copy of the 'Joint Resolutions to Lieutenant General Grant,' engrossed on parchment by yourself, and forwarded through Hon. Robert Schenck the President of the United States directs me to say that he has placed the same in the hands of the Secretary of War, and has referred to him, the question of using it for the purpose indicated by you." Creases, small marginal splits. Very good condition.
