Autograph Letter Signed, “Robert Wilson” 1-1/2p. folio, Mt. Union, April 14, 1842, and reads in part: “...Tell Father that I am not so ignorant of the discipline of the Church as he seems to suppose I have read it time & again & I find it contians a direct license for both Preacher & member to committ the crime of slave holding...The founder of Methodism calls the sum of all vilines friends and relatives...not only to be clear of the sin of apolgizing for slavery but to bear a faithful testimony against it as well as all other sins...” Good.
