Broadside. Color, 19-3/4” x 26”. Biblical and Masonic drawings and scenes illustrating mottos of the Loyal Orange Institution, headed “In God is My Trust,” on the left side “Union,” “Truth” on the right side, along lower edge “Honor All Men. Love the Brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King.” Light soiling at perimeter. Toning on blank verso. Fine condition. This broadside was entered according to Act of Parliament of Canada in the year 1895. An original identical to the one here offered is in the Canadian History Department of the Metropolitan Toronto Library. The Orange Institution (more commonly known as the Orange Order or the Orange Lodge) is a freemason Protestant fraternal organization. The Orange Lodges have existed in Canada at least since the War of 1812. It was more formally organized in 1830 when the Grand Orange Lodge of British North America was established. Four Canadian Prime Ministers have been members: John A. Macdonald, John Abbott, Mackenzie Bowell, and John Diefenbaker.
