Two partially printed documents, each one page, octavo, Washington, D. C., January 9, 1857, both summoning the Hon. William A. Gilbert of New York before a Committee of Inquiry looking into his "…alleged corrupt contributions to affect the passage of measures before Congress...". A banker by profession, Gilbert resigned his seat the following month. Fine condition.
