President James Garfield Funeral Services Program on black silk, Seneca Falls, NY, September 26, 1881. Measures 6 ½" x 11", excellent. As with funeral services held throughout the country after the assassination of President Lincoln, the same was done for President James Garfield after his assassination. Funerals were held throughout the country to mourn the death of the President Garfield, who died on September 19. This funeral being held in upstate New York. The piece is printed on black silk in gold, and provides details for the funeral service. While programs such as this show up from time to time in paper format, finding an example in silk is virtually unheard of. A exceedingly rare Presidential funeral piece
