Assumed Office from the Vice Presidency following the assassination of William McKinley in 1901. Typed Letter Signed, one page on The Outlook letterhead, octavo, New York, February 23, 1912 to Bishop W. C. Doane, Albany, New York, reading in full, "Indeed, my dear Bishop, you need never think that I will misunderstand you. Mrs. Roosevelt and I knew that that interview was false, but it is very pleasant to have the assurance from yourself.
