A good war-date Confederate officer's letter, 1 1/2pp. 4to., written by Capt. George Bouton, Yorktown, [Va.], Sept. 1, 1861, in part: "…I am attending to duty…pack up, if you can my winter pants…you may put a stripe down the legs if you have any thing to do it with…I have written to Edwin Hill to collect the hire for the wagon…& let Jerome [his slave] come home…".
