Manuscript Document, being a court copy of a 1846 deed of trust; 7 pages, 8" x 12 1/2," Brazoria County, October 6, 1852. Fastened with brass bracket. Three file holes at top margin, not affecting text. Some pencil additions, deletions and annotations. In Extremely Fine condition. Here Love, in order to secure a loan to operate his 1,300 sugar plantation - then called Parker's, and now known as Chenango - offers the entire plantation as collateral, including its 70 named slaves! Listed, among others, are "Harry, Brancola, Bob, Aldo, Ellick, George, Hatie, Cudjo, Coco, Dick, Tom, Adela, Daniel, Lewis, Jim, Charles, all of whom are grown, together with all the women slaves on said place and their children, to wit: Rose, Eliza and Anthony her children, Egre her children are John Frank Jane & Judy, Tara her children Carolyn Julian , Sally her children are Malinda and Besha, Nancy and her children Luisha and Delta, Jena her children Julius and Love, Malinda her children Mary Matia and Davie, Lucinda and her children Abee and Henry, Sabine and her children Polly and Caesar, Aliba and children Bill Keto Jack Emmeline Alice and Louis, Martha Jane her children, Mary and her child Jane Sally and William..."
