Bubble pendant, 2”-diameter, with decorative edge in gilt, blue, and white and connecting hook at top. Pictured on one side is a vignette of the Springfield State Capitol building. Appearing on the other side is a photograph of a beardless Lincoln, the famous “tousled hair” pose taken by Chicago photographer Alexander Hesler, February 28, 1857, two weeks after Lincoln’s 48th birthday. This pose is encircled with the caption: “Welcome to the / Home of Lincoln.” In 1860, Lincoln wrote James F. Babcock that he considered Hesler’s photograph “a very true one; though my wife, and many others, do not. My impression is that their objection arises from the disordered condition of the hair. My judgment is worth nothing in these matters...”
