From the front page, a full column “The Execution of John Brown,” in small part “The gallows has lately closed the career of a man who will hold no infamous place in history. ..the hangman is not necessarily the bestower of infamy; the rope does not always make a man’s reputation loathsome. ... His death cannot fail to deepen and embitter the hostility which divides the states ...” there are several other John Brown articles, A Warning - John Brown’s Friends Gibbeted,” “There Was No Bunkum In Brown,” John Brown in Prison,” “John Brown Is Gone,” and “John Brown Meeting in Indiana.”
