The Georgia state Senate addresses the Harpers Ferry invasion in the strongest terms through several resolutions, "Whereas the latest attempt at Harpers Ferry ... to excite a portion of the slaves of the South to insurrection, has produced the highest degree of indignation in the minds of the Southern people ... That we pledge the State of Georgia to uphold and support the State of Virginia ... and we earnestly council the utmost vigilance in guarding against the recurrence of a similar conspiracy at the South." Important "southern solidarity" legal statement only two weeks after the John Brown invasion. The legislature moves on to other state business in this 640pp, stitched, journal, Good.
