They sent an awful poor coffin for him…orders have just come for us to get ready with 7 days rations…we are going to Fredericksburg…Fred & I and some of the boys have been out on a walk. He was 2 weeks…coming from Richmond. He says that they are hard up for everything to eat in Richmond…he had on some of our government shoes that they took when they made a raid into Mariland. He stole them. He said they was a going to sell him the next day and he was bound to come…he said he was not halted till he came to our lines.
