Witcher, W. C., THE REIGN OF TERROR IN OKLAHOMA (Fort Worth, Texas: W. C. Wichter, circa 1923), 144pp., 8vo, paper wraps. The front cover states the author is "Personally Endorsed by Governor J. C. Walton" and a facsimile letter from the governor is printed on the inside back cover. Governor Jack Walton of Klan-happy Oklahoma was an ardent foe of the Invisible Empire and suspended the writ of habeas corpus in Tulsa County due to rampant subversive and racist activities. Walton's action outraged Oklahoma constitutionalists, who impeached the progressive governor after he had been in office for less than a year. For the record, Walton was also a Roman Catholic. Soiling and some chipping, else very good condition.
