A complete and authentic issue of The New York Spectator, November 27, 1854, 4pp., disbound, VG. From the front page, “The Fugitive Slave Law, Judicially Declared Unconstitutional, with 8” report. the case involved “S.M. Booth who was arrested in Milwaukee last March, charged in aiding in the rescue of a fugitive slave ...” This important decision was ultimately reversed by the United States Supreme Court in 1859.
