Partially printed document signed by Col. James Hagan, 2pp, oblong folio, 16 ¾" x 8", "Camp Silas Tucker" (MS or TN), "1862," lists the status of officers, men and horses belonging to the brigade, which consisted of the 3rd Alabama Cavalry, 1st Alabama Cavalry, 8th Confederate Cavalry, 12th Alabama Battalion of Cavalry and a Kentucky Battalion of Cavalry. Colonel James Hagen was a Mexican War veteran, a gifted soldier and an energetic leader. Despite commanding a brigade and receiving positive recognition from the likes of Joseph Wheeler, Hagen never did receive a brigadier's commission. Tiny splits on lower fold lines, else very good condition.
