War-date Confederate officer's letter signed by Captain W. L. Tonner, Co."E," 6th Mississippi Infantry, one page, 8vo, "Camp White near Bowling Green (KY)," January 19, 1862, reading, "I send my boy Hulbert out this morning with my pony. I brought it away from your house most too soon when its feet were tender and again has the scratches. If you will keep it out at your house and cure it up I will pay you for your trouble and be under obligation to you. Besides, I can't well cure it in camp as it is so muddy around the stable." Very good condition.
